Man it's been years since I posted. Two reasons - not much to vent about, and not enough pent up hatred amongst accountants in the Private world. Now that we're remote - I do need an outlet since it is a weird world that we live in. Since this is a global event - I'm very curious how everyone is doing working remote - what are the pros and cons in this ever-changing world?
I'll start - here's what I can think of based on conversations I've had with friends and co-workers-
Pros-
a) No commute - That's extra 1-2 hours of people's lives daily - yes it can be meditative for some, but the vast majority love not having this.
b) More quality time with family
c) No time spent to get ready - No work attire, no make-up. Shaving can be intermittent, up until the next important Zoom call.
d) Widens the swath of job opportunities available - There could be more opportunities available to you because you can now work remote
Cons-
a) No boundary between work and home - Everything just blends together. You just don't know when to truly shut down. It's not like you have a commute where you can decompress and then not check your phone as often.
b) Less social interaction - I do think that humans generally need social interaction - there are clearly are sectors and groups of people who are totally fine without it, like say the Tech community, but others do appreciate it. The way I look at this, young professionals, especially those who are single, will want to work in an office. Once they settle down and have kids, they love working remote, at-least a day or two a week.
c) Space constraints - Not everyone has large houses with space available to work remote around the world. How do you solve for this? People will go nuts working at their parents' homes or in small apartments at cities around the world.
Your turn.

My biggest takeaway from the pandamic is that i could go back to my hometown to work from hometown. I saved a lot of expenses from not having to commute to work, eating out, and celebrating various events with friends and colleagues. Even though i do miss the social moments.
I spend more time with my family as well.
I develop healthier lifestyle as well. I have set a time to zone off work at 5.30pm everyday by exercising. This has helped me to switch off and call it a day.
I guess you are right, working as an accountant has more blessings to count as compared to an auditor. I like your writing and it has been very much an inspiration to me since i started working as an auditor many years back.
This article is amazing. It helped me a lot. Sir, keep up the good work. We are always with you and look forward to your new interesting articles.
